Inaugural 2025 Stanford Lung Cancer Summit: Understanding Lung Cancer in People Who Have Never Smoked

Hosted by the Stanford Center for Asian Health Research and Education (CARE)

Lung cancer in people who have never smoked disproportionately affects Asian populations, with studies indicating higher incidence rates among non-smoking Asian women compared to other ethnic groups. This alarming trend suggests a genetic predisposition and underscores the urgent need for innovative research, clinical guidance, public health policies, and awareness campaigns to address this critical health disparity.

On March 11–12, 2025, CARE hosted its inaugural Stanford Lung Cancer Summit, convening Stanford clinicians and researchers to examine the current landscape and future directions in addressing lung cancer among individuals who have never smoked. This multidisciplinary summit brought together university experts who shared groundbreaking research and discoveries, all with the shared goal of developing a coordinated roadmap to reduce disparities and improve outcomes in this overlooked patient population.

Select recordings from the summit are available to watch on the Stanford CARE YouTube channel.
