Yutaka Tomizawa, MD, MSc
Dr. Tomizawa is the Director of the Gastric Cancer Screening and Endoscopic Treatment Program and a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington. He completed gastroenterology training in Japan before moving to the U.S., focusing on the endoscopic diagnosis and management of early gastrointestinal cancer.
While in Japan, he had the privilege of working with many of the world’s leading experts in the endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of early gastrointestinal cancer and trained in endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). He maintains strong academic partnerships with physicians around the world.
Dr. Tomizawa has served as Chair of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) DDW International Clinical Symposia Committee and as an Executive DDW Planning Committee Member. He also serves as an International Committee Member of the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society (JGES).
Dr. Tomizawa is a U.S. board-certified physician in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. He graduated from Tokyo Medical University, completed gastroenterology training at the University of Chicago, and pursued additional interventional endoscopy fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania.
