Dr. Jensen received a B.S. in Biochemistry from UCLA and a Ph.D. in Microbiology & Immunology from the UCLA School of Medicine under the mentorship of (vale) Professor Eli Sercarz, Ph.D. Much of his Ph.D. dissertation work was done at the La Jolla Institute for Allergy & Immunology (now called the La Jolla Institute).  He did a Postdoctoral Fellowship with Professor Len Harrison M.D., D.Sc. at the Walter & Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI) in Melbourne, Australia. He worked as a Senior Scientist at Schering-Plough Biopharma (formerly DNAX, now Merck) before coming to Stanford University School of Medicine.  Dr. Jensen Co-Directs the Diabetes Immune Monitoring Core (DIMC) within the Stanford Diabetes Research Center (SDRC) and is Assoc. Scientific Director of the Stanford Pancreatic Islet Replacement & Immune Tolerance (SPIRIT) program. He also Directs Assoc. Professor Everett Meyer’s research lab within the Blood & Marrow Transplant-Cell Therapy (BMT-CT) Division and works closely with Faculty in Adult and Pediatric Endocrinology on programs related to type 1 diabetes (T1D) Immune therapies.
