Asako Mito, MD, PhD
Dr. Asako Mito is a clinician and clinical researcher focusing on maternal medicine, especially high blood pressure and nephrology. She is also passionate about education in preconception/interconception health and care.
She is the Medical Director of the Division of Maternal Medicine, Center for Maternal-Fetal-Neonatal and Reproductive Medicine, and National Center for Child Health and Development (NCCHD). Together with Colleague, she established the first Preconception Care Center in Japan at NCCHD. She is also a member of Japan Drug Information in Pregnancy.
Her research interests include pregnancy-related hypertension and perception/interconception health and care. She is conducting a national perspective registry study of pregnancies complicated by chronic hypertension and was conducting clinical research on postpartum hypertension and sleep. She also joins research on long-term follow-up cohort study in woman who suffered from hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and adverse pregnancy outcomes and their children. She has also authored a clinical guideline published by Japan Society for the Study of Hypertension in Pregnancy. And She is also involved in perconception/interconception health education, teaching classes at high schools and universities.
