Abby Chae
Abigail (Abby) Chae is currently a graduate student at Rice University, pursuing a Master’s in Bioengineering in the Global Medical Innovation Program. Following her graduation with a Bachelor’s of Science in Global Health from the University of California San Diego, along with working with refugee populations and education access in the San Diego area during college and being a key Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Center for Global Mental Health, Abby has gained a passion for learning how to create innovative and culturally adaptive treatment interventions for underserved populations within the US. Abby has also written her senior honors capstone thesis on the topic of eating disorder interventions among female adolescents in East Asia and is motivated to further explore the field of Asian and Asian American health, furthering the knowledge that currently exists. During her time as a CARE scholar, she hopes to find ways to build on her research skills, work collaboratively with professors in the field, and further the knowledge that exists on Asian related health issues and risks.
