Advancing Gastric Cancer Screening in Asian Health: Current Approaches and Emerging AI Innovations
Event Details:
This event is open to:
Gastric cancer remains a major health concern in many Asian populations, where rates are significantly higher than in the general U.S. population. Early detection through appropriate screening can greatly improve outcomes, yet awareness and access to screening remain limited.
In this Community Health Talk, Dr. Yutaka Tomizawa, Stanford CARE Global Faculty member, Director of the Gastric Cancer Screening and Endoscopic Treatment Program, and Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington, will discuss the importance of gastric cancer screening, current screening approaches, and how emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence are beginning to transform early detection and diagnosis. The talk will also explore risk factors, prevention strategies, and the unique considerations surrounding gastric cancer in Asian and Asian American communities.
Join us to learn how advances in screening, endoscopy, and AI-driven technologies may help improve prevention, early detection, and outcomes for populations at higher risk for gastric cancer.
Speaker:
Dr. Yutaka Tomizawa completed gastroenterology training in both Japan and the United States and specializes in the endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of early gastrointestinal cancers. Having trained with leading experts in Japan, he brings a global perspective to advances in gastric cancer screening, endoscopy, and minimally invasive treatment approaches. He also maintains active academic collaborations with physicians and researchers around the world.
