Event Title: AAPI Leadership Advancement Webinar

Event Date: Monday, September 28, 2026 | 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Description: Join us for an engaging conversation on leadership advancement for Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) faculty in academic medicine. Dr. Samantha Wang will present key findings from her latest research, "Barriers and Facilitators to Leadership Advancement Among Asian American Deans and Department Chairs in United States Medical Schools," followed by a dynamic panel discussion with distinguished Stanford leaders.

Our expert panelists include:

- Agnes Le, Instructor, Stanford Graduate School of Business

- Dr. Latha Palaniappan, Associate Dean of Research at Stanford Medicine, Co-Founder of the Stanford Center for Asian Health Research and Education (CARE)

- Dr. Edward Mariano, Professor of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine

Moderated by Dr. Samantha Wang, CARE co-director of Faculty Development, this dynamic panel will explore critical themes impacting AAPI leadership advancement: navigating promotions, cultural norms and leadership styles, intersectionality, role models, peer advocacy, sponsorship, and creating accessible pathways to leadership. The discussion will highlight institutional practices and structured interventions that can address these challenges, with a focus on actionable strategies for creating more equitable advancement opportunities. The session will conclude with audience Q&A, providing an opportunity to engage directly with our panelists. All are welcome to attend.

A recording of the talk will be available to registrants after the event.
