Stanford CARE Team Science Fellowship FAQ
Please tell me more about the Team Science Fellowship Program.
Stanford CARE Team Science Fellows will teach and mentor in the CARE Scholars Program, a virtual year-long data science program that trains the next generation of leaders in precision Asian health research, anchored by a 9-week summer research immersion. Team Science Fellows will each mentor 2 CARE Scholar teams (total 3-5 projects), provide insight/direction on study design, analysis, presentation, and manuscripts for publication. Ahead of the summer research immersion, Team Science Fellows will receive training on teaching and mentoring techniques; help prepare datasets for analysis; learn about national dataset analysis; engage in best practices in scientific communication; and participate in an innovation seminar series with leaders in business, technology, medicine, and health policy. Team Science Fellows will meet regularly with the CARE Team Science Program team to advance their teaching and mentoring skills.

During the summer, Fellows will work with their CARE Scholars on 3-5 research projects (two teams). Some projects will be large database research focused on precision medicine, and others will be specific mentored research projects with individual faculty. All projects will be mentored by leading Stanford CARE faculty. Beyond the summer, Fellows will continue to work with Scholars on publishing their results in academic journals over the next six months. Most teams are predicted to submit 1-2 manuscripts for publication to a peer reviewed journal.
