The Stanford CARE Explorers: AI x Precision Health Program is a dynamic two-week in-person summer experience designed for high school students passionate about improving health outcomes in Asian and Asian American communities and beyond. Participants will explore critical health topics that impact Asian populations, examine how artificial intelligence (AI) tools can improve their understanding of precision health data, learn the fundamentals of statistical data analysis, and develop essential leadership and teamwork skills.
The Stanford CARE Explorers: AI x Precision Health Program is open to applicants of all backgrounds.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Stanford CARE Explorers: AI x Precision Health Program, students will learn:
- Fundamentals of statistical data analysis techniques
- How to use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to look at and understand precision health data
- To recognize and explain important health issues impacting Asian and Asian American communities
- Leadership and teamwork skills

In order to participate in the Stanford CARE Explorers: AI x Precision Health program, students must:
- Be a rising high school sophomore, junior, or senior.
- Be 14 years old or older.
- Reside within the local commuting area for the full duration of the program. The program takes place on the Stanford University campus in Palo Alto, California.
No, the Stanford CARE Explorers: AI x Precision Health program is a day-only program and does not provide any housing.
The Stanford CARE Explorers: AI x Precision Health program does not provide transportation to the Stanford campus. Students can drive to campus, take public transportation, or arrange for drop-off and pick-up.
The Stanford CARE Explorers: AI x Precision Health program will run on weekdays from approximately 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. A finalized schedule with specific daily times will be shared with all accepted participants in advance of the program's start date.
Yes, lunch and snacks will be provided daily.
Yes, participants will work on laptops throughout the program.
Participants will engage in a breadth of curriculum that will include:
- Critical health topics impacting Asian communities. Previous topics addressed include lung cancer, cardiovascular disease, digestive cancers, alcohol flushing, and more.
- Using Artificial intelligence (AI) tools to improve understanding of precision health data.
- Basics of statistical data analysis.
- Leadership and teamwork skills. Previous topics addressed include CliftonStrengths, team building activities, and group project work.
No experience is needed in order to participate in the Stanford CARE Explorers: AI x Precision Health program.
Yes, a limited pool of need-based financial aid is available to help cover the Stanford CARE Explorers: AI x Precision Health program fee. To be considered, applicants must demonstrate financial need by submitting a brief letter from a high school administrator (e.g., principal, counselor, financial aid officer) or community leader. Detailed instructions will be provided on the program application. All applications for financial aid are subject to verification. Submitting a financial aid request will not impact an applicant's admission decision.
Please note that the Stanford CARE Explorers: AI x Precision Health program does not offer application fee waivers.
Program admission decisions will be released by late-March.
