Year 2 Overview

During its second year, the ADVANCE Program significantly expanded its research portfolio while strengthening the collaborative infrastructure needed to advance precision diabetes research in Asian and Asian American populations. Across all three Specific Aims, investigators advanced studies spanning type 1 diabetes, normal-weight type 2 diabetes, genetics, immunology, multi-omics, nutrition, artificial intelligence (AI), and computational biology. These efforts were supported by growing collaborations with Stanford investigators and leading national and international partners, creating new opportunities to accelerate scientific discovery and interdisciplinary research.

In parallel, ADVANCE continued building its biobank and data infrastructure to support biospecimen-linked, ancestry-informed research while advancing pathway discovery through AI-assisted evidence synthesis and integrated multi-omic analyses. Together, these efforts generated new scientific discoveries, supported abstracts, manuscripts, scientific presentations, and grant development, and established a strong foundation for future translational research aimed at improving the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diabetes in Asian and Asian American populations.
